Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich is desperate to sign one more player before the 2022/23 summer transfer window comes to a close. That player is none other than RB Leipzig and Austria international midfielder
Konrad Laimer. Bayern sees Laimer as a player who has qualities similar to
Joshua Kimmich. The club's admiration for Laimer has seen them table three bids during the transfer window, but, unfortunately, RB Leipzig has rejected all of them. The latest bid, worth approximately 24 million euros, was deemed sufficient by Bayern to trigger Laimer's arrival. However, RB Leipzig didn't budge from its position, and it's quite likely that Laimer will spend the 2022/23 campaign as a Leipzig player. Leipzig has decided to block the move even though Laimer has entered the final year of his contract. This means if Leipzig fails to renew Laimer's contract, the midfielder will become a free agent come the summer of 2023. By then, if Bayern's interest in him is sustained, he can join the Bavarian giants for free.Reports suggest that the RB Leipzig board has been frustrated with the recent departures of Marcel Sabitzer and Dayot Upamecano. Both players left Leipzig for Bayern, which strengthened Bayern's title bid and eventually resulted in the Bavarian side winning their 31st Bundesliga title. This season, RB Leipzig has high hopes of challenging Bayern for the championship, even though it's likely to be an uphill struggle.Bayern has got off to a splendid start in the new campaign and star signing Sadio Mane has impressed. On the other hand, Leipzig's start has been sloppy. Even though the club has welcomed back
Timo Werner, it has struggled to finish chances and has dropped points in each game played. It's fair to say that Leipzig has a lot of catching up to do if it has any hopes of competing with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
