Bayer Leverkusen is all set to be boosted by the arrival of England winger
Callum Hudson Odoi. The winger, a product of Chelsea's youth academy, will join Leverkusen on a one-year loan. Hudson Odoi is capable of playing in various positions along the front line, and Thomas Tuchel has also used him as a wing-back at Chelsea. The winger will hope to revive his career at Leverkusen after several years of being an understudy in the Chelsea first team. From Antonio Conte to Maurizio Sarri to Frank Lampard and now Thomas Tuchel - almost all of Chelsea's recent managers have primarily used Hudson Odoi from the substitutes bench. Not long ago, Hudson Odoi was seen as one of Europe's best attacking talents. During Frank Lampard's first season in charge of Chelsea, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich was very interested in signing the winger. However, Lampard blocked the move. Strangely though, Hudson Odoi was never given regular playing time at Chelsea, having to play second and sometimes third-fiddle to the likes of Willian and Christian Pulisic.Several Premier League clubs were interested in signing Hudson Odoi. However, Chelsea was reluctant to offer the player to their Premier League rivals. Reports have also revealed that new Chelsea owner Todd Boelhy pleaded with the winger to go away temporarily.Leverkusen fans will be thrilled with Hudson Odoi's arrival, as it's bound to strengthen the side's attack. The club will hope to have a strong 2022/23 campaign as it has ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League. For Hudson Odoi, the move would mean a chance to impress Gareth Southgate, as he wants to be a part of the England setup going into the 2022 FIFA World Cup.For Chelsea fans, however, the news of Hudson Odoi's departure is bound to come as a disappointment. They have to settle for yet another youth academy product leaving on loan. The move will also deal a blow to Chelsea's attack. Since the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea's attacking options have been left limited, even though the club signed Raheem Sterling in the summer.
